Did You Know you can use our products even if you don't have RFID enabled credit cards?
Choose from our many themed Credit Card Sleeves to give you that unique personality, with the added benefits of RFID blocking technology.

Theft Defender Products became available for privacy protection from RFID chip technology that has been put on your credit cards, drivers license, passports, and other types of everyday products that may identify you.  Our products provide RFID shielding protection to prevent unauthorized people or businesses from reading your personal information off these RFID chips.

Our sleeve products are made from durable paper infused with a special alloy that help block the radio signals needed to read the information contained on these chips. Our products are tested for effectiveness and approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). We recognize there are other industry leaders that may provide similar products, but we stride to keep our prices low while providing features that others might not offer, such as printed themes or customized themes without ordering in bulk quantities.

If you have recently noticed, The US government has been proactive in recognizing the need to protect information on their RFID chips, so they have instituted a policy to provide RFID protective sleeves, similar to the ones we sell when you request or are updated to an Enhanced Drivers License.  Again, you are limited to what is provided… so if you want customization, that is where our themed products can work for you.   What about Credit Cards?  Until recently, the news and major credit card companies have been slow to recognize the need to protect privacy dangers associated with RFID chips provided to customers.  Information stored on many credit cards include name, address, zip code, card number, expiration date, csv number, and sometimes your maiden name…often used for phone validation.  NEW for 2009... Some companies now only use a unique serial number to identify you in efforts to fight crime and avoid expensive and confusing encryption technologies, but even getting this unique number is enough for someone who has access to bank verification and point of purchase terminals.

Examples of commonly used cards with RFID chips with personal information include: credit cards, debit cards, healthcare cards, ID cards, and transportation cards including most subway and parking fare cards (subscription types)

Only until 2007the past few years, has RFID dangers been socialized to the general public, making the need for shielding personal information even more important, especially as the economy grows into a global currency…CREDIT.  News agencies such as CNN and the Associated Press have published articles indicating the need for personal privacy protection when using RFID, but more work needs to be done to ensure the privacy protection for everyone.  Did you know that by 2012, many stores will have expanded their current use of RFID tags as security sensors to automated RFID product pricing for the self-checkout and automatic payment from you credit cards or bank account?  Please help us spread the word about the risks of RFID chips and promote Theft Defender Products by sharing this information to people you know before they become victims of identity theft.

Additional RFID Awareness:  Anyone traveling outside the US has noticed that most countries in Europe and Asia now require 2 factor authentication for credit card transactions.  1. being you RFID number  2. a Pin number.  These countries are lobbing the US financial industry to provide similar to keep costs down and maintain same level of security and convience.  One Problem.  A malicious person still only needs your unique RFID information.  A pin number can easily atill be looked up with the right resources, commonly available from ebay.  So you be the boss, take the risk or buy a cool low cost inovative product that will keep information safer on RFID chips.

Why dosen't companies provide these sleeves?  Credit card companies don't because they make more money on insurance claims and related fees passed to you the consumer.  However the US government just recently now provides a complimentry protection sleeve with new border cards.  What they don't provide are unique fun printed themes, designed to match your personality.

As an added benefit for you, we have recently created a Community Awareness & discussion website.  To learn more or to contribute information about RFID technology, please visit: http://community.theftdefender.com
